Grupo Maximo Grado y Mas!

  • TIME: 8PM

Spotlight 29 Casino is proud to present Gran Baile Grupo Maximo Grado on Saturday, December 29th at 8 p.m. in the Spotlight Showroom.  Also performing are Los Parras and Grupo Zable.

Hailing from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Grupo Maximo Grado is known for playing danceable corridos — with a few choice rancheras in the mix. Their unique sound includes syncopated drumming, swirling, staccato accordion, and a series of dialogues in their vocals. They do not sing narcocorridos or any songs that promote violence; rather, they detail family life. It speaks to their cross-generational appeal and sets them apart from many other corrido groups from Sinaloa.

Fronted by Cristian Felix, the group also features innovative accordionist Alexis Valenzuela (who also sings back-up), Adrian Martinez on bajo sexto, drummer Jesus Romero, electric bassist Christian Sanchez (who also functions as a second lead vocalist), and percussionist Willy Saldana.

Their debut album, the live La Vida del Leon, was followed by the studio effort Yo Soy Ivan on HyPhy, both released in 2014. In 2015, the single “Unas Heladas” received extensive play on Mexican airwaves, and the full-length album Marca Acme was released by AfinArte Music.
