Since 1997, the Native American Land Conservancy (NALC) has successfully acquired 2,500 acres of land on the Old Woman Mountain Range and is now completing a comprehensive inventory of the area’s flora and fauna.
The NALC works to preserve land, plants and animals – all of which are a vital part of the region’s history. In addition to its preservation efforts, the NALC is planning educational programs as well as healing and learning landscape initiatives in the Old Woman Mountains.
The organization also pursues other avenues for preservation and protection of endangered sacred lands to include partnerships with the Anza-Borrego Foundation, the State of California, and the Trust for Public Lands.
The organization’s primary funding comes from its annual golf tournament held in December.
